Question 1

What is Space Penguin’s Virtual Address Service?

Accepted Answer

We give your business a street address in Melbourne or Sydney and handle your mail. You can also book desks, day passes, private offices and meeting rooms across Australia on our site.

Question 2

Where are your addresses?

Accepted Answer

530 Little Collins Street in Melbourne, and The Hub, 89-97 Jones Street, Ultimo in Sydney.

Question 3

Is Space Penguin a registered business?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We're Space Penguin Proprietary Limited, ABN 82 682 613 065.

Question 4

How much does it cost?

Accepted Answer

$20 a month, $55 a quarter or $220 a year, plus GST. There's no setup fee. Mail scanning, notifications and forwarding are part of every plan.

Question 5

How long does setup take?

Accepted Answer

A few minutes. You sign up online, verify your ID, and we email you your new address.

Question 6

Why do you need my ID?

Accepted Answer

Australia's anti-money laundering laws require us to check who our customers are. That usually means a passport or driver licence, plus a few personal and business details.

Question 7

Can I sign up from overseas?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can forward your mail to any country. You'll just need to complete our ID check.

Question 8

Can one plan cover more than one business?

Accepted Answer

No. Each plan covers one business name and up to two people. Each extra business needs its own plan.

Question 9

Do you have pricing for accountants?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Accountants, lawyers and agencies can join our partner program for custom pricing across their clients.

Question 10

Can I cancel anytime?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there's no lock-in. Your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for, and we don't refund unused time. Plans renew automatically until you cancel.

Question 11

What's not included?

Accepted Answer

Phone answering, meeting rooms and walk-in mail pickup aren't part of the plan. You can book a desk or room separately on our site.

Question 12

What happens when my mail arrives?

Accepted Answer

We scan your letters so you can read them online. We process mail on a regular schedule, not item by item, so it's not built for same-day needs.

Question 13

Can you forward my mail?

Accepted Answer

Yes, anywhere in the world by Australia Post. You pay postage plus a small handling fee. Reply within 14 days of us telling you something's arrived, or we may shred or dispose of it.

Question 14

Is there a limit on how much mail I get?

Accepted Answer

Plans cover normal mail for one small business. If volumes get very large, we'll give you written notice before charging extra or limiting the service.

Question 15

Can I get parcels delivered?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for your business. The address can't be used for personal online shopping.

Question 16

What happens to my mail if I cancel?

Accepted Answer

We'll return what we can to the sender. Anything left may be shredded or disposed of 14 days after your plan ends.

Question 17

Can I use the address as my registered office?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can use it as your ASIC registered office and for your ABN.

Question 18

Can I use a PO box instead?

Accepted Answer

No. ASIC needs a street address for your registered office, not a PO box.

Question 19

Do I need the occupier's consent?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if your company doesn't occupy the premises. We give every registered office customer a signed occupier consent letter.

Question 20

Will you handle my ASIC paperwork?

Accepted Answer

No. We provide the address and handle your mail. Your ASIC and ABN filings are still up to you, and we can't give legal or tax advice.

Question 21

How do I change my registered office if I leave?

Accepted Answer

Lodge Form 484 with ASIC within 28 days. It's free if you lodge on time. Late fees start at $102. It's easiest to do this before you cancel.

Question 22

Can I use the address for Google Business Profile?

Accepted Answer

We don't support Google Business Profile verification and can't promise it'll work. If you try it, it's at your own risk.

Question 23

Can you help me get an ABN?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our guided application costs $55 all-inclusive and can include GST and PAYG registration. You can also apply for free directly with the ABR.

Question 24

Can I check if a business name is available?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our name check is free. A name isn't yours until you register it with ASIC. That costs $47 for one year or $108 for three.

Question 25

Are your partner services run by Space Penguin?

Accepted Answer

No. Business email, insurance, SMS and eSIM plans come from Google Workspace, New Wave Insurance, Texto and Yesim. We may earn a referral fee, but it doesn't change your price.

Question 26

Do I have to buy them with an address?

Accepted Answer

No, each one stands alone.

Question 27

Do you give insurance advice?

Accepted Answer

Accepted Answer
